A Sustainable Village

A Sustainable Village
The Environmentalism and Sustainability Sub-Committee of the Parish Council was established in February 2009 following the decision of the Council to strive to make the community more self-sufficient and resilient in the face of the dual challenge of climate change and resource depletion. The purpose of the committee is to advise the Council on how Fulford can become a more sustainable community, that is one that that meets the needs of the majority of its members and enhances their well-being without damaging the natural world or endangering the living conditions of other people, either now or in the future. The Committee consists of an equal number of Councilors and co-opted members and to date has been instrumental in encouraging the Council to sign up to the 10:10 campaign and in developing a plastic bag-free initiative for Fulford.
