Allotments
Fulford's allotments are owned and run by the Parish Council, located off Fordlands Road, next to Fulford Cemetery.
In the past year we have been successful in recruiting to the allotments and all are currently in use. We do have a short waiting list of approximately a dozen interested parties.
Allotments and leisure gardens give people a great deal of pleasure, satisfaction, hours of peace and quiet and promote a healthy lifestyle - not forgetting the opportunity to meet different people, exchange ideas and learn from the more experienced – and it’s not just growing vegetables, many people grow cut flowers for example.
The Parish Council are proud of the importance of the allotments to our community and we are working hard with our allotmenteers not only to meet their needs in terms of facilities and resolve any problems etc, but also to ensure we are working together in providing the environment they need now, and for the future years.
Parish Councilors now meet biannually with allotment holders at the Social Hall and have allocated a collective budget to allotment holders to help run the site.
It is evident from our meetings with allotmenteers that there is a strong community spirit on Fulford Allotments – long may it continue.
