Fordlands Road Unauthorised Encampment Vacated

UPDATE MONDAY 1ST AUGUST

Neighbourhood Enforcement Officers from CoYC obtained a Direction to Leave Order from the Magistrate's Court, served the Order and the site was vacated before 5.30pm on 1st August. The Public Realm team from CoYC will attend to clear the site in the morning.

UPDATE POSTED 27TH JULY

Officers visited the encampment on the morning of 27th July - 2 caravans have left and Officers applied today to the Magistrate's Court for an a Hearing to obtain an Order to remove the remaining caravans. The Parish Council received reports of an unauthorised encampment arrival at the Fordlands Road playing field on the afternoon of Friday 22nd July 2022. The Magistrate's Court Hearing date is Monday 1st August.

UPDATE MONDAY 25TH JULY

8 x 48 Hour Direction to Leave Notices were served 25th July. Neighbourhood Enforcement Officers from CoYC served the notices and delivered refuse bags.

NEWS POSTED FRIDAY 22ND JULY 2022

The Parish Council received reports of an unauthorised encampment arrival at the Fordlands Road playing field on the afternoon of Friday 22nd July 2022. The Parish Council notified the Police and City of York Council as they are the authorities able to take action to remove them.

The Police visited on Friday afternoon, assured that they would monitor the situation and that any incidents should be reported by calling 101. The travellers told them that they planned to move on in a week. An update on the Parish Council Facebook page was posted to help raise awareness of the situation with residents.

The Neighbourhood Enforcement Team of City of York Council has confirmed that 48 hour Direction to Leave Notices will be served on Monday 25th July and if the Notices are breached, a Court Hearing will be arranged to obtain Legal Orders compelling them to move on. Council officers delivered refuse bags in an attempt to keep waste to a minimum and help it to be disposed of in a manageable manner.
